Moore Middle School Wrestling is open to students at Moore in grades 6-8.
We are very excited for the upcoming season and lots of good times await! Our program is one of the best in the state!

- First year wrestlers do not have to do competitions. First year wrestlers join as part of our practice squad. They will focus on learning the sport and having fun. They can compete later in the year if they are ready or wait until their 2nd year of wrestling.
- Wrestling is divided into weight classes. Wrestlers are paired up in practice and when they eventually wrestle in meets with wrestlers who are the same size.
The Middle School wrestlers on the competition team will compete in duals and tournaments just about every weekend during the season starting in late November.

FEES: Wrestling fees provide the wrestler fight shorts, Shirt, Hoodie, USA Wrestling membership, tournament fees, end of season banquet, and other wrestling expenses. Our fundraiser allows the wrestler to wrestle for free of charge. Please take advantage of that. If you choose not to fundraise, the fee is $100

Several will miss the first practice because they are playing fall sports such as football or soccer. You can still register and come out if you are not able to make it to the first practice. E-mail mike.thomas@jefferson.kyschools.us if you have any questions.
Practices
Practices are held at Moore in the Lobby.

Competitions
Competitions are held primarily on Saturdays for middle school students. Competitions start in late November and end in early February. Check the schedule for dates, times, and locations.
Equipment
Wrestling Shoes
Wrestlers must have wrestling shoes by Oct. 21st or by the 3rd week from their start date. Shoes must be neutral colors: black, white, gray, or a combination. Wrestlers may also wear navy blue(our team color) shoes. Shoes can be purchased at Academy Sporting Goods or Dicks Sporting Goods. Shoes can often be purchased for cheaper prices online at various wrestling gear sites. 
Knee Pads (optional)
Rookie wrestlers may develop sore and bruised knees. Wrestling knee pads are sold at Academy or Dick's. They will protect the knee from blunt force and burns. Some wrestlers wear them and others do not. Knee pads are totally optional. If purchased they must be neutral colors: black, white, gray, or a combination. Navy blue kneepads may be purchased. |
Wrestling Headgear
Wrestlers must purchase headgear if they are competing. Headgear can be bought at Academy or Dick's Sporting Goods. Headgear must be neutral colors: black, white, gray, or a combination.
